Project Overview:
TNS were engaged to provide a full design-and-build package for the installation of a new lighting system over the newly formed gateline at Stansted Airport Train Station. The works were carried out in strict compliance with Greater Anglia’s M&E Specification, ensuring the system achieved the required lux levels while also maximising energy efficiency.
Our scope included lux design, CAD layout design, and the provision of an AMTEC/Trimble cable calculations package. Dexeco Opus luminaires were installed, each incorporating presence detection and absence dimming. These fittings were lux-programmable, with onsite commissioning undertaken to optimise lighting levels—dialling lux up or down to eliminate wasted energy and ensure compliance with GA specification.
The installation required bespoke fabrication of mounting brackets. Luminaires were securely fixed to the existing cable management system (CMS), and additional custom brackets were designed for installation onto gateline posts. All fittings incorporated emergency functionality.
The project was delivered within a live operational environment. Works were carried out during out-of-hours shifts and off-peak times to ensure no disruption to station operations or the travelling public.
